FAQ

Who can enter?

Students and professionals from the engineering and industrial design fields or from other related fields, aged up to 35 years. Participation can be individual or in teams up to four persons.

Is there any fee involved to register?

No. Registration and participation are free of charge.

What is the deadline for registrations?

Registration for the contest is available from June 2019 on the contest website, www.cauprotect.uji.es, and can be accessed via the registration page. The registration period will remain open until further notice.

Can I submit more than one idea?

Yes. Any person or group can participate by submitting up to two ideas.

I haven’t received the email to confirm my registration

You should receive a confirmation e-mail. If it is does not appear in either your inbox or your spam box, please contact us at cauprotect@uji.es.

I made a mistake in my registration. Is there a chance I can to modify my data?

Yes, you can modify your data sending an email to cauprotect@uji.es

How should a group register?

In step 1, it is only possible for one person to register. Later on, to submit the idea, you will enter the data of all the authors in the web form.

What is the deadline for submissions?

Projects must be submitted to the contest website by 20:00h (GMT+2) on ̶3̶0̶t̶h̶ ̶s̶e̶p̶t̶e̶m̶b̶e̶r̶  31st October 2019.

What should I submit?

On the contest website, www.cauprotect.uji.es, you must submit:

  • The title of the idea
  • An abstract up to 100 words
  • One pdf file, A2 size, of a maximum size of 4 MB containing:
    • The title of the idea
    • A description of the idea, using as many drawings, schemes and texts considered necessary to explain the following aspects:
        1. What would the initial position of the device be at rest?
        2. How would it detect an epileptic seizure and fainting?
        3. How would the device be activated to protect the user’s head?
        4. How would the device return to its standby position to be used again?
    • Use any kind of means to graphically show the idea: sketches, renders, collages, illustrations, photomontages, etc.
    • Identify the file with the registration code received once registration is complete: registration_code.pdf.
    • Signed document(s) to consent the use of personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679

Is there any requirement on number and type of graphics to show the idea?

No. You can include as many graphics and explanations as you consider in an A2 size sheet. There is no fix template, although you can find some examples here. As you can see, there are many possibilities.

If I have an idea, but there is some aspect of the problem that I do not know how to answer, can I also send my idea?

Yes. Even if there is some aspect of the problem that you are unsure about, the idea could be worthy of an award or mention if it is very good.

Can I email my submission?

No, you must submit your idea by following the steps on the website.
